Podcast #59- Conversation With Rob Turner Part 1

This weeks podcast is with Rob Turner- and was so much fun to make! Rob is a fellow podcaster, the cohost of Inside Out with Tuner and Seth, a very cool listen that’s a deep dive of  music and interviews, exploring many different aspects of music- especially jam bands- he is also the man behind the emerging podcast The Timeless Music Podcast. Amongst the 2 co-hosts Rob is the “lunatic deadhead” and clearly someone I needed to meet!

Rob and I talked and continued to email one another through this mutual connection to music and podcasting. This past fall we joined a team of likeminded podcasters, named Osiris Podcast Network ( more info to come next month & into the future)  so now we had yet another connection and reason to meet! Rob made it up to New England for a visit, we got to sit down in person, get to know each other & share a few hours talking about music- in particular The Good Ole Grateful Dead- if we told one another about all that we knew- we could have burned off both our ears!

When I asked Rob to pick out some music to talk about and share, he came back to me with 23 songs from 15  different shows!! Needless to say this podcast could easily be a 6 part series – however for now we broke it into 2 episodes. Rob tells us about discovering music, the Grateful Dead & his experiences from the first couple years he started seeing live shows, then tours. The first of the 2 episodes ends after Jack Straw in October 1984- Episode 2 will pick up where we left off on that tour in 1984.

Rob was SO passionate about each and every show (not songs- but shows) we discussed that it was decided a link to each show in the song notes below- so many songs to fill the air!
