Podcast #71-Conversation with Deadhead Anthony Serpico

This episode I had the honor and privilege to talk to Deadhead Anthony Serpico. Anthony and I connected through posts on Instagram. Although the podcast is made once or twice a month, I keep the Strangers Stopping Strangers vibes freshly updated with a post each day on social media. Many Deadheads I meet, I later tell about the podcast which is the origin and ultimately the backbone of all my social media. Anthony slid into my DM’s ( term I just learned 🙂 ) and we started chatting and I asked if he would share his stories on the podcast. It took almost a year, but we finally got our schedules together, and it was worth the wait!

Anthony started to see The Grateful Dead in 1972- and covered a lot of ground in the overall New York/ CT/ NJ area. From Madison Square Garden runs to the ultimate show at Watkins Glen in July 1973  Anthony experienced so much magical live music history.

With all these years of being a Deadhead and seeing some of the greatest shows of all time, one aspect I loved about talking to Anthony is how he is incredibly enthusiastic about the music scene today!  He speaks passionately about his experiences at Dead and Company shows, and tremendous admiration for the band mates, so much so, that the first song we picked to play (out of something like over a 1000 songs to choose from) is Dead and Company’s Cumberland Blues from November 12, 2017 at Madison Square Garden.

Anthony was so much fun to talk- a man that is kool with a capitol K-  an integral part of our deadhead community – and in my opinion  one of the reasons that the music never stops!
